Currently the second longest bridge in the world, the East Bridge boasts a main span of 1,624 meters (just over a mile). The side spans are each longer than the main span of the Brooklyn Bridge. The towers are 254 meters (833 feet) tall. It's often difficult to convey the size of such an immense structure through pictures. Patrick notes the first couple of pictures were taken from a distance of three miles. He made three trips to the bridge during this visit and walked across each time.
Did you notice the man standing on top of the tower cross-bar in the last picture?
Patrick, not shy about getting some quality time with a good suspension bridge, admits to having "dawdled" on the bridge as long as he could until someone chased him off.
