No, not the Hell's Gate in New York City. Patrick notes the name originates "from early explorers trying to find a way from the Pacific Ocean eastward through British Columbia. Due to the narrowness of the valley here and the water flow being twice that of Niagara Falls, it was said that this area is the gates of hell and that no man should tread this way. Now, two rail lines and a highway work their way through the valley."
