This card shows the first (1856) Bidwell Bar suspension bridge at its original location before it was dismantled and relocated in preparation for the inundation of this location behind the Oroville Dam. The card repeats the frequent claim that it was the first suspension bridge in California, but at least four other California suspension bridges are known to have predated it.
