Dave writes: "The cross piece on the south towers only is something I have not come across before. Cables run from the centre of the deck round the ends of the crosspiece to the main cable anchor points. The cables are not fixed to the crosspiece they just pass round the ends. Rather like the main cables pass over the tower tops."
