Dave writes: " All photos were taken from the north east end of the bridge. The bridge has two suspended spans with a pier in the centre of the river and in many ways is unlike any other bridge I have visited. It appears to be possibly a wrought iron construction. Not a true suspension bridge but the main spans a combination of shallow arches and suspension rods. The river bank on the north east side of the river is made up of large stone blocks. Hearsay has it the that the council closed the bridge for safety reasons after a storm. That no-one has admitted ownership/responsibility."
"This photo shows the top of the tower located on the central pier. The top of the gates are visible along with the damaged lamp. The lamps appear to be electric and I feel that at least the wiring is not original."
