This 1882 Keystone Bridge Co. wrought iron truss was moved to this location in the early 1900s and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places for many years. In 2012, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced it would be replaced, but subsequently announced (in early 2013) the historic bridge would be refurbished and an adjacent span would be added to support two-lane traffic.
