Patrick writes: "This bridge has many similarities to others on this stretch of river. Upstream: Broad Bottom, and Kewanee, and downstream: Paintsville. Very much derelict, this bridge consists of just one tower on the town (west) side. The east side is without tower due to the main cables being anchored directly into the hillside well above the roadway that once served as the major thoroughfare. The two upstream bridges mentioned above share the same characteristics as they too have main cables going above the roadway and anchored into the hillside at one end like that of this bridge. The deck gains considerable elevation from town side to roadway." Patrick also notes the creative use of the bridge tower as an engine hoist.
