Patrick comments on the recent extensive refurbishment: " After viewing your photos of this bridge from your 2002 visit I now understand why there is the '2002' on the wall in [the sixth photo below], as well as that grayish blue paint (left over from the 2002 refurbishment) that appears on the suspender cables at the sockets in [several of the last photos]."
Patrick's wife Laurette appears in this photo (and the previous photo), providing a sense of scale for the large piers of this bridge. My wife (Mrs. Bridgemeister) has often joked about starting a "Bridge Wives" club -- a support group of sorts -- for those that suffer, endure, and wait patiently while their spouse stalks all of the prime vantage points for photographing each bridge.
